I have been invited to an evening wedding, Is it ok to wear a black dress to the event?

Traditionally guests are expected to wear light coloured attire , nothing too dark or moody as a wedding is a celebratory event, so it all depends on how traditional the bride is and the style of wedding she is having. If nothing has been stipulated under the dress code, then the best bet is to ask either the bride or someone close to the bride.
