Are you having a summer wedding? Hosting a wedding in the height of summer in South Africa can be challenging. Soaring temperatures can leave guests feeling grumpy, not to mention melting makeup, frizzy hair and wilting flowers! Here’s how to beat the heat:
- Install fans at outdoor weddings, or take it indoors into the airconditioning
- Make insect repellent, sunscreen and umbrellas available to your guests
- Swap the flowers for fruits, like lemons and limes, placed in large, water-filled, clear vases
- Serve light sorbets to your guests on arrival at the reception
- Consider short wedding and bridesmaid dresses, with rolled-up sleeves for the groom’s party
- Ensure that your Maid of Honour carries blotting paper and a makeup sponge to help keep that freshly applied look
- An up-do not only looks glamourous, it’s cooler, too. Remember, well-conditioned hair is less prone to frizz – try a Brazilian Blow Wave prior to your wedding day.
