How do I go about preserving my wedding dress?

  • Firstly, find a reliable Dry Cleaner who specialises in formal wear.
  • Take your wedding dress to the Dry Cleaners as soon as possible after your wedding. Carefully store your wedding dress in a protective bag, so as not to damage it en route to the cleaners. Make sure to point out any stains to them.
  • You are going to need an acid-free box, with acid-free tissue paper to store your dress in after it has been cleaned. Never use anything containing plastic. Plastic bags give off fumes which can discolour fabrics over time, as well let light in.
  • Store the dress in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
  • Inspect your dress on each anniversary to check for any discoloured areas or missed stains and to allow your dress to “breathe.”
