When tradition is not your thing

  • For those looking for a unique and exceptional way to celebrate their special day, look no further. A luxury cruise from the Waterfront or Hout Bay will guarantee romance. This is a great option for a small, intimate group and will be perfect for a morning, afternoon or early evening wedding (with the possibility of the early evening wedding turning into an early morning!). When choosing a cruise charter or yacht, ask whether they have experience in setting up weddings on a boat. They may be able to give you advice about the best time of day, the menu and they may even have special wedding packages. If you are planning to come to South Africa to get married, our advice is to find one of many experienced and efficient wedding planners in Cape Town. Then you can sail away, sip on bubbly, kick off your shoes and celebrate the night away.
  • Cape Town’s warm, sandy beaches are perfect for a cozy, intimate beach wedding. A small beach between Camps Bay and Bakoven, just outside of Cape Town is the perfect spot for a sunset beach wedding. This venue would work for a morning, lunch or late afternoon wedding (weather permitting). You can either dress down and say your I do’s barefoot or you can go traditional and wear sandals and your dream dress. Again a wedding coordinator will be a good investment in putting a beach wedding together, as you’d need a Plan B in case the weather acts up let them take over the hard work while you enjoy the end product!
  • There are quite a few vineyard venues that will be a stunning alternative for a morning or lunch time wedding. Stellenbosch, the first wine region to establish a wine route, makes for a perfect wedding venue. Franschhoek, which is within half an hour’s drive from Stellenbosch and Paarl routes, offers quite a few wine estates as well as numerous small vineyards. Set aside some extra time for photos while your guests are enjoying the outdoors – a wedding photographer could get totally carried away in this environment, leaving you with stunning memories.
  • For a more daring venue, tie the knot on top of Table Mountain, South Africa’s premier tourist attraction. The views will be exceptional and this exciting open-air venue will give you a sense of freedom. The revolving cable car ensures that your trip up and down gives you a good look in all directions. This will be perfect for a summer morning or lunch-time wedding, ending in the early evening as the sunsets are beautiful. It would be wise to make use of a Wedding Planner if you are feeling this adventurous, as it will take quite a bit of planning to pull this off and you would probably also need a Plan B due to the unpredictability of Cape Town’s weather. Tip: Make sure you have something warm with you as it can often be quite cold on top of the mountain.

Your wedding day will be something you treasure forever, so make sure that it represents you. You need to be comfortable and happy with all your choice. This is all about you!
