Wedding planning has gone digital, gone are the days of writing out to-do lists or looking up your vendors in the yellow pages. Now everything can be done in a simple phone app, here are our top 4 free wedding planning apps-

#1: The Knot wedding planner

Pros

The Knot Wedding planner app, requires you to login to access the app, you add your basic information and voila, instant wedding planner. It’s pretty –really pretty- and functional too. If you are at the beginning stages of your planning, you can access the inspiration tab to find all sorts of beautiful images to inspire even the fussiest of brides, with an easy filter function you can find anything from wedding dresses to boutonnieres in your selected wedding colours. This app comes with a comprehensive easy to use wedding checklist and wedding budget planner.

Why stop there, download their wedding guestbook to create your free wedding website and guest list manager, the only app that I came across that offers this service free of charge.

Cons

This app caters to the American market, therefore when you access the vendors page, priority is given to the American service providers. So this part of the planning will have to be done the old fashioned way, Google and email

#2: Weddio

Pros

Weddio is a clean functional app to plan your wedding down to the last centrepiece.

From your main navigation menu, you can create your guest list by emailing each and every person with a personalised email message, here is where you could attach a digital wedding invitation or simple add a ‘save the date’ message, you also have the option to access your facebook friends for a more streamlined approach.

There is a wedding budget and timeline function each entry has its own task, notes and photos related to each, you can add service providers with contact details and stay in contact with them via the app.

Cons

There are a few bugs in the system, sometimes entries get duplicated, but you just trash the duplicate and you back on track

#3: EZ Invites

Pros

Although not a wedding planning app as such, EZ Invites lets you to design your own online wedding invitation with ease, great designing functionality with easy to use templates and design options from funky background images and clean (not kitschy)  clip art overlays to customisable text both in font colour and size.

This app makes sharing your invite a breeze using social media platform in which to do so, with an option to save your image locally on your device so you could send it out later

Cons

This app is for invitations for all occasions, not necessarily weddings, so some of the image options are quite eclectic, if you have an off the wall approach to wedding planning, this app is for you.

#4: Wedding Party

Pros

This is an app for your wedding day, your guests simply need to download the app, log into your wedding with a wedding key that you provide and all the photos taken by them on their phones, can be neatly entered and organised into your in-app wedding album. This app has a great Photo booth function, which adds a bit of whimsy to your wedding, have a little fun by setting up a table with photo props and let the creative juices flow.

Not only is Wedding Party a wedding photo app, it also has additional wedding planning features like a wedding guestbook, a wedding count down and you can keep your guests in the loop leading up to the wedding by sharing events, gift registries and accommodation information.

Cons

Navigating this app is fun and easy to people in the know, however don’t solely rely on this app to communicate to your guests as these great features will be lost on the more technically challenged
