Creating an Ambience Through Your Venue

Choosing a wedding venue is important, not least because one’s choice of venue sends a message about the type of wedding experience you and your guests will enjoy. Consider the ambiances created by these different venues – the beach, a manor house in the Winelands or a bush lodge in Mpumalanga. The beach suggests laid-back and casual, the vineyard manor house swanky sophistication, while the Mpumalanga bush lodge inspires feelings of an African safari, exotic and exciting. Popular wedding venue choices include country clubs, country estates and hotels or spas, and these often lend themselves to weddings of a more traditional nature, invoking a sense of the Grand Occasion. But if you desire a less conventional feel, think about having your wedding at a more unusual location – a fairground, a zoo, a museum, a trendy urban space, even in your own backyard…

I think the general mood for a wedding is important. I was at a wedding on the beach a few years back, a very small wedding but the mood was powerful.
