Nobody does over the top quite like Katy Perry. So when the gorgeous songbird announced her engagement to wild and wacky Russell Brand, not for one second did anyone expect a demure, traditional wedding ceremony. We knew that the October 2010 nuptials were going to be as eccentric as the couple themselves. But did we predict a full-blown Indian wedding festival that would last 6 days, complete with a ceremony that included camels and elephants? Not a chance.
The couple tied the knot at the majestically exotic Aman-i-Khas resort in northern India, the bride wearing a dove grey lace-sleeved Elie Saab wedding dress. Highlights of the week included a Bollywood-themed party, an intimate ceremony performed by a family friend of Katy’s family and performances by folk musicians. In true Noughties celebrity style, the married couple announced their new married status on Twitter… where else?
Just goes to show that fairytale weddings are still there for the taking.
