Philippa and Mark MohrWedding: 15 June 2009

Our Wedding Day

Mark and I are probably the last of the late bloomers. We have been through what seems like a lifetime of ups and downs and all around, and then to our surprise, we found each other right under our noses. We both love, art and music and wanted to have an unique urban wedding in the city we love.

We chose to use decor details from our honeymoon destination Mexico to create a fun fiesta of a winter wedding. We really wanted to create a colorful relaxed evening for our friends and family to celebrate our love with us. We chose spicy dishes to chase away some of the winter chill, we had a fun photo booth for favors to take home to remember the night and a special area for the kids with mechanical rides and a table of crafts just for them. I wanted every detail to be special and unique. I created allot of the decor elements myself, like our white flag banners with personalized designs. I hand painted the converse sneakers with Mexican motifs which reflected each groomsmen and page boys personalities, the flower girls loved their pink princess dresses and special name necklaces created for each of them. The bridesmaids looked stunning in fifties inspired party dresses made of hemp silk and the groomsmen in Kentucky ties and tuxedos looked so handsome.

It truly was the best night of our lives and one that we hope everyone would remember.

Advice to Future Brides

The days leading up to the wedding will always be stressful,no matter how pedantic or militant you are about your planning…....€ on the day just try to focus on your husband to be, think about your special relationship and remember what brought you to this point, its a great way to help you relax and forget all the nagging details and helps focus on what’s important and then just take a few minutes before the ceremony begins to take it all in , a couple of my friends throughout the night reminded me to just stop , it really helped to relax me and let me enjoy the night more.It really does go by in a heart beat, another tip is definitely have the day videoed, there are amazing parts of the night you just wont see and this is an amazing way to relive the parts you did and to enjoy others you may have missed.
