Minette and Divan le RouxWedding: 20 September 2008
Our Wedding Day
Platrand Lodge was chosen as our wedding venue. The week before the wedding was humid and hot, when suddenly within 24 hours before our ceremony the weather changed drastically and we had four seasons in one day. The morning of the wedding I woke up to realise that it was snowing, so much for our planned spring wedding filled with sunflowers and bridesmaids and flower girls dressed in orange and burgundy coloured summer dresses. As it was near freezing point outside, we couldn’t have the ceremony outside on the grass as initially planned. Luckily the church was still available and we quickly arranged for the ceremony to be held there. I think we all were relieved from having to stand in the cold for the duration of the ceremony.
Things actually worked out great, after the ceremony the sun came out and gave us just enough time to have our photo session. While our photo session took place the guest were on their way to the venue, where they were welcomed with sunflowers and burning fire places. In the end it was all worth it as the weather emphasised the colours in our photos, making it look amazing and the guests felt more than comfortable inside the warm and cosy venue. After all the unplanned events, it felt like it was planned to be like that and we all had the most special day of our life.
